Made in 2016, Metatron is an abstract sculpture that defies gravity to levitate above its marble pedestal. The figure was created in collaboration with a European research lab that built a levitating device capable of holding objects weighing up to 10 kg in midair.

The artist sees Metatron as an energy cluster in hover: the sculpture’s dynamic nature is enhanced by its shape that seems to have been formed while rotating before the mass came to a standstill and solidified. Its dynamism is also emphasized by the red color, a symbol with many a meaning. To Christians, for example, it denotes the fire of the Holy Spirit. The levitating Metatron is an incarnation of a heavenly messenger that can lift the viewer’s imagination up from the ground and carry it away to a transcendent meditative state.
